Don't you know dubstep links go in that OTHER section, and this forum is for swimmy downtempo instrumental "look what I did with my ukelele, Ableton, and absolutely no wobble" posts?

...I think it rocks, the drop is suprising, I confess to like [some] dubstep, and I will place this track within that category. Looking forward to that DL, I'm trying to work up a full DJ set of free soundcloud tracks and this should be one of them!

I just heard about Bassnectar for the first time yesterday, when a friend said this track kind of sounded similar to his style.

Looked him up and WOW.

Yeah, Bassnectar's on my fairly short 'buy without listening' list. Gotta love someone who can take classic Metallica, add bass, and make it better than the original. Enjoy your newfound discovery!

...while we're on the dubstep artist tip, I'm also a big Burial fan. It gets tiresome before I get through a whole album, but the deep moodiness of any given track is both inspirational and original. Really neat use of clipped/edited/reworked R&B vocals. Check out the "Untrue" album if you're interested.

Did you have one of those "How did I manage to miss out on this all this time?" moments?

I like how he has the long rocker hair and rocks out thusly on stage.

yeah something like that. Will definitely be on my look-out-for list from now on.

Now I just need to figure out a way to get his tracks onto a set, since most of them seem to be real fast. (i.e. closer to drum & bass BPM).

If you join the Bassnectar email list he's always sending out links to free track downloads.

Here's a Bassnectar track I posted in another thread awhile back that I discovered from being the background track in an amateur porn video.

Does this track at least make you bob your head?

I don't think dubstep is really good for dancing either but I think I could to this track.

Well, it was pretty interesting. I have noticed that Bassnectar does have some pretty good melodies (unlike a lot of other dubstep I've heard, though maybe I've heard the wrong stuff), which I can appreciate. Just not my cup of tea, I suppose.

One thing I'd like to see is Aphex Twin (yes, I know a lot of you cringe at the name, but oh well) do a remix of a Bassnectar song...that could be interesting...
To be fair his music can be a roll of the dice. Sometimes there's some solid groove to it and others it's just trying to push the limits of low end and noise. I appreciate the production on all of it but way prefer the stuff with a groove or some kind of feeling (to me) behind it.
