Well Im bored. I guess I just wanted to see who has met their influence/inspiration/musicians they like and any fun stories out of that.

My Example - Met the Crystal Method a few months back. Listened to them ever since I was a kid and was just, :o , the whole time. They were so drunk one was rambling and the other was mumbling. And I ended up leaving the club at 5 in the mor...

Its kinda cool story bra but Im curious if anyone else has a story...

I met Trent Reznor once and despite me mentally preparing myself to keep my cool I ended up blabbering on to him like a teenage girl. He was nice about it but I could tell from his body language I was being a little over the top, but I couldn't stop. Also I remember he was shorter than my 5' 6" height.

Also was backstage at Marilyn Mason once and didn't get much one on one time with any of the members but I do remember a cat litter box being backstage per their rider.

Later a roommate of mine was dating early Manson guitarist Daisy Berkowitz soon after he got the boot from Manson. At the time he was in the band Jack Off Jill. I met up with him and my roommate one night at a club in SF and in a drunken stuper my introduction to him went like this.

"Hey! You're that guy in that band!!!"
"Yeah, Jack Off Jill."
"Nooooooo. That other band."
"I'm in Jack Off Jill now."
"OK, but that other band!!"

He wasn't amused at me playing the guy who thought he was still in Manson but couldn't remember it was Manson or who he is. It was like salt in the wound squared. Seemed like a good idea when I was drunk and my roommate thought it was hilarious, what a bitch (and awesome friend).

Most of my meeting The Pros stories happened during my Goth days.

A few weeks ago Massive Attack and Thievery corporation were playing at the Greek Theater in Berkeley. My friend lost our tickets,so I had to go to Berkeley early in the day to buy us more.I was walking towards one of the tour buses when 3D from MA walked out of the bus.I lifted my hands up in the air as to say what the fuck and he did the same thing back at me.We talked for about 15 minutes and I explained to him how my idiot friend lost our tickets. He ended up taking my name down and said, no worries mate you are taken care of...When i went to wilcall later that night to pick up the tickets I found out that he also gave us backstage passes!!! He was nothing less than a gentleman, really down to earth. I should have asked him when Tricky was coming back.

I got brunch with Phantogram recently, they're starting to get some heat. Super sweethearts, very down-to-earth.

I played in a band that opened for Queens of the Stone Age when they were first starting, it was a tiny club and Dave Grohl was there to see them. They were in the upstairs bar when my band played :(

And I didn't meet them, but saw Mastadon in a bar basement that hosted bands. That was on their first tour, there were maybe 15 people in the room and they KILLED IT.

i don't wanna incriminate anybody so i'll roll with:

when I first moved to California I lived in Berkeley and was a huge Hieroglyphics fan (still am). I ended up giving Opio a ride to his house from a mutual friend's place and we were talking about old Transformers and Voltron cartoons and shit til the wee hours. I've had the opportunity to hang out with 3 of the the 8 from that crew on multiple occasions and they are some really cool, really chill fellas. with the whole rapper M.O. that is implied, whether by them or by folks on the outside looking in, its hard to know what to expect. They definitely taught me that musicians are just folks too.

now that i've seen what i've seen though i almost miss the notion of these far off stars that you can never touch. i've definitely rethought what it is that you sacrifice when you throw all the chips in and go for a full on career in music. - hats off to those of you making it happen!! 8)

I used to cook as an on the road chef.
I have done many tours with bands that have since become mega huge.
I have also done my share of bands that have had one big moment and then passed away and become forgoton.
Of all of the up and coming, at their peak or just plain over this hill the best memories i have are of touring with Ronnie James Dio and Black Sabbath, The Starnglers, New Model Army and of hanging out with Billy Gibbons and Boyd Elder in El Passo.

Both Ronnie and Billy where awesome people who where both very happy to share stories and dispell myths.
Ronnie especially is one of the funniest people i have ever met.

Sabbath as a whole was very cool for me as i was a huge fan when i was a kid.
I used to have a poster on my wall of the Ozzy line up, Ozzy is wearing that tassled buck skin jacket and Tony is looking over his shoulder at the photographer who is behind his stacks.
During the tour i used to run to back stage from where ever i was in the venue to watch them do war pigs.
Some nights they would hold off starting the song untill i was there. This one night i was a long way from the stage and ran my ass off to get there and Ronnie was all about ready to call fuck it and start the song. Just at that point i got to the side of the stage Tony was on and he turned around to see if i was there and gave me a thumbs up...
I WAS IN MY FREAKING BED ROOM POSTER!!!

Met quite a few local rock stars.

Two of the guys in Alice in Chains came over to the house I was living at to look at my roommates corvette, drummer was thinking of buying it. Drummer goes with my roommate to do this. Me and my girlfriend were watching Pink Flamingos in the living room, Guitar player sits down and starts watching it with us.
If you've never seen Pink Flamingos it's John Waters making one of the grossest but funniest movies he's ever done. The guitar player (Jerry Cantrell) joins in right about the time the "party" scene is on with a close up of some dudes asshole who can pretty much make it whistle along to some old show tune. So he's OK up until this scene and shouts out, "What the fuck are you watching!?!!" Me and my girlfriend both answer as if theres nothing unusual about this movie, "Pink Flamingos, you've never seen it? it's a really great movie, a classic!" I kinda miss her!

I made a turkey sandwich for 'Ole Dirty Bastard in 1992.

Met the whole Wu clan, they were pretty chill. Gave my cousin and I a copy of 36 chambers before it was released.

My half sister used to own a barge in Bristol which she'd hire out for private parties. Lots of after-parties for the Bristol dnb crowd, trip-hoppers etc.

So at the tender age of 18, I got to smoke some truly enormous spliffs with Roni Size and the Reprezent people. Meeting that lot was what got me into producing.

Relative story--My best moment was getting to party out with Tricky backstage after a show in town. The club had to throw us out of the place man! We were at til like 4:30 in the morning dude--No shit.

P.S. Tricky is a very tiny man 8O Like Somalia tiny dude.

Second hand story, but I live in Oxford (home of Radiohead) and a few years ago my old housemate came home and said that he saw Thom Yorke in Sainsbury's (supermarket, for any non-Brits here). In my housemate's words, Thom was "standing completely still, holding his shopping basket in one hand, and staring so intently and morosely at a lime it was as if all the sorrows of the world were contained inside it."

So do I. :-)

I've seen Thom around quite a bit over the years. Phil Selway works in the Samritans office around the corner from me too.
