Re: iPad Now the Most Versatile Instrument. Ever.
What's needed first for the iMS-20 is full MIDI implementation.
Then, for that and all music apps, the ability to set which CCs are assigned to controls.
Here's some new iMS-20 MIDI info:

Bah, nearly worthless.

Believe me bro, that's exactly what it feels like.
Going to grab the NLog Synth tonight. Supposedly pretty flexible MIDI.

Without looking at those links at all, beyond having a tactile keyboard to bang around on doesn't mapping other parameters to a hardware controller completely miss the point of an iPad?LoopStationZebra wrote:What's needed first for the iMS-20 is full MIDI implementation.

Judging by this thread, I can picture some people plugging all sorts of things into their Apple products.Donnie wrote:Hmm, what else to try plugging in this thing...

I know, right? You wouldn't believe the number of dorks that are looking for a controller to use with their iPad.
However, in their defense, the fucking sound quality with some of these apps is stellar so the iPad becomes a quasi soft synth/AU/pluton that doesn't sap your CPU.

Well, well, well. Got MIDI implementation going with the Molten app.
CLOCK SYNC FTW.
Created a few MIDI clips to send CCs to the app, and before long I was automating volume levels and filters.
Seeing the little knobs turning on the app was nothing short of joyful.

These links were all I needed actually. Set up a few keyboard programs and now I can play whatever I want!LoopStationZebra wrote:What's needed first for the iMS-20 is full MIDI implementation.

You know what we need? Shut up, I'm gonna tell you. A Kore type app to house and access all music apps for quick access and layering. And fuck everybody, it can house TouchAble and Griid too. And one view will show thumbnails of each app you can just tap and bring the app to focus. Or you can have it split the screen into a grid of 4 different apps with full access to all the parameters on each but 1/4th (iPhone) size.

Jesus, right now there's $230 worth of iPad accessories in my amazon cart I would have to get if I want to screw around with any and all audio/video/MIDI options.

Re: iPad Now the Most Versatile Instrument. Ever.
Well since I have zero accessories for my iPad I put the following in my cart
Camera kit adapter
VGA adapter
Line 6 MIDI adapter
iRig audio adapter
Apple wireless keyboard
So yeah, some of those aren't related to the task at hand, but goddamn if this doesn't make me feel like a PC user parting everything out for specific needs (minus the feeling of control and ownership those douches get with such a list).
And my list doesn't include audio cables, the M-Audio MIDI thingy, or hell, might as well include that Akai (or is it Novation?) iPhone keyboard as something I'm not including on the list. Fuck, just realized there's also that audio adapter for the Djay app that splits the out for headphone cueing. It never ends, this shit.
