Oh, these are the days of wine and roses indeed for my fellow iPad music app aficionados. This was just announced today:

Alesis StudioDock

It's got MIDI 5pin and USB and footswitch jack and XLR (!) and 1/4 jacks and God Knows What Else.

*weeping at this point*

I cannot buy one of these fast enough.

:x

tnx to gjm for the heads up on this. :P

He'll pay any price and it needs it's own chapter in his final analysis report volume 1.

Rounding out the StudioDock’s output section is a composite video connector, enabling users to employ the StudioDock as a source for video projection behind bands on stage
Multi tasking Audio and Video apps. (I know I said it in the other thread, but I LOVE this idea).

I'd guess that it's just the same as the current iPad video out cable. Meaning that apps still have to support video out (mirroring of the whole screen isn't a given). But, that Apple cable is too flimsy for live use without loads of duct tape, so that dock would be a great improvement...

Wait a minute, isn't this a product by Alesis and not AKAI?

Hehe... i do not have an iPad so I have no idea what people are doing with video... I am in a severe state of gear lust though.

What will happen if the iPad 2 comes out and has a slightly diferent form factor?
How is that gonna jib with all of these hardware devices with built in docking?

What will happen? We will use the old iPad as an effects rack and use the new one as a Live controller right next to it.

That FX rack will no doubt incorporate that Moog Filter app.
