Personally, I barely do any patching in Reason. Aside from my custom Redrum-Kong mega drum machine...dokx wrote:All this cable routing takes quite some time and gets messy very quick (for example compare sidechaining in Reason vs. sidechaining in Ableton.)dhilsabeck wrote: What are the "valid" points of Reason haters these days?
Lack of audio support.
If you have lots of time at hand then Reason is a fine laboratory...I don't have time.
Reason was my first love though...
v5 allows audio support in the form of sampling buttons on redrum and the samplers. Plus you could always import samples as wavs in recent versions. Then there's Record, of course.
I agree that tinkering with Reason can a lot of time but on the other hand I find it's quite efficient if you're using it primarily as a sketchpad and you've got your process somewhat down and you have a basic working knowledge of the devices you like to use. In fact I often find myself discovering new workflow enhancements that differ from previous versions but are very clever implements.
Have i mentioned that the Props charged only $129 for v1-4 Reason users to upgrade to v5 plus Record?
Have I mentioned that?
