Alright, let’s see how you guys fuck this one up and overcomplicate it.

Hint: The title is the answer.

i'd like to take this opportunity to complain about live's audio engine. i would do it elsewhere, but i can't find a single topic where this is discussed

I just wanted to say I originally posted this in the the Music and Audio Production forum where it would have been SPOT ON in relationship to what goes on over there, but then Ableton stealthily shimmied it into The Lounge where it's just kind of meh. :x

And I say this with respect, I don't need an Ableton rep joining in this thread to exchange explanations or niceties. You do what you do and I could probably think of 5 reasons for you possibly moving it that didn't even cross your mind. I love you anyway, so save it.

However, if you have proof that this thread was in fact started in The Lounge then I request you PM me with some dementia help hotline numbers because I posted it completely sober.

OK, you asked for it. I just finished installing Komplete 7 into this one. $550! Bumped the RAM up to 8 GB and the HDD to a Seagate Momentus 750GB 7200rpm. And I have $2000 left over! :D

you did not mention cpu
also that laptop is made of plastic
most likely its a plastic lcd screen instead of a glass led
the mouse is probably not multi touch
the keyboard is probably not back lit.
if there is a camera it probably does not record at 720p
and the graphics card is almost definitely not up to playing any modern games.

you are probably also running windows wich does not come with an equivalent to ilife.

this is all shit i realized after i bought my last windows laptop.
when it really comes down to it you dont save any money from buying a pc if you consider all the things a mac comes with.
but if you are broke and just want to make music then glass screens and led vs lcd really dont matter.

CPU = second gen. sandy bridge Core i5-2410(2.7-2.9 GHz!)not available in Macbooks yet
plastic is light :D
I use wireless mouse and keyboard... and TouchAble
not a dj, don't need pretty backlight
don't give a shit about camera, I usually disable it to save resources
the gpu is built into the architecture of the sandy bridge cpu = better performance than discreet GPU's
don't give a shit about iLfe, this is strictly a music machine

things I didn't mention:
has 2X USB 3.0 and 2X USB 2.0 ports
DPC latency = 76 micro seconds
battery life is 5 hrs.+

Dude. They can barely fucking GIVE those things away. All you do is pretty much name your price. :P

"$350 and a blowjob. From a chick. Her. Right there."

"Done and Done."

Simple as that. Capitalism is a beautiful thing. :x

Office Depot has it on sale again! No seriously, this is a great fucking deal. They normally go for $600 but they drop it to $550 from time to time. Trust me I've tested this bitch with a usb controller and TouchAble(simultaneously) and a bunch of CPU heavy synths and fx(think TRacks :x ), and a Saffire 6 USB... this thing rocks! It even has it's own version of Time Machine! They call it Time Stamp. :)

I recommend that you buy a 15" MBP and Komplete 7.

Did I win this thread?

I have a 2011 15" MBP and Komplete 6. Komplete 7 is an even better deal. CPU consumption is no longer an issue. The high res screen lets me see more stuff. I don't know what you're waiting for.

Not at all comparable to to a quad core i7, so you did not in fact save $2000.

Just for fun, the only Macbook Pro that costs $2000 more than your machine is a quad i7 chip at 2.2ghz which easily tops up to at least twice or three times faster than that laptop. Remember P4 chips topped out at over 3ghz 6 years ago, and were MUCH slower than a 1.8ghz centrino chip.
Plus it's a 17" screen model. Nice laptop, probably better than Apples low end, but their high end that you're comparing it to has always been decently priced for what you get. :P
