MIDI controllers are more or less a luxury - they don't add anything to your DAW, they just make it a million times easier to do stuff. So why shouldn't I be able to use my APC40 to control, say, Explorer/Finder, or even better, Adobe products? I'm a layout designer and I'm constantly changing little things with a stupid mouse when a quick button or dial would be so much easier. There's no live-instant-control aspect, but it's still super convenience.
Has anyone looked into converting midi to... anything else?
I've dipped my toe into max and PD and I don't assume it's too difficult, but if there's a program out there that will let me make macros or even adobe scripts, etc, that would be rad.
Using MIDI controller to control.... other things.

I would say maybe take a look at bome's midi translator which can do midi to keystroke mapping

I've been saying for years that Adobe products needs midi control, think if you could use an x/y pad for picking colors or a fader for hue/saturation or even turning off and on layers like we turn off audio channels.
It's kinda surprising that it hasn't been fully developed, actually it's shocking.

That makes me think about using my ipod as a mouse, with Lion gestures and all; on xp:p Some research is in order!
In the meantime, the Logitech mouse app is pretty cool:)
