I have an Apple hording problem. My roommate’s girlfriend was over with her 3 kids a couple weeks ago ages 6, 9, and 12. I wanted to take a picture of them holding my appropriate sized MBs, the 6-year-old with the 11” MB Air, the 9-year-old with the 13” MB Air, and the 12-year-old with the 15” MBP. Then I decided it would probably only be clever to me and decided to skip it.
I ordered my Kindle Touch yesterday. I’ll report back my findings when I get it.

No. But funny enough I've bought tons of stuff from amazon over the years and usually just get the usual "your order has shipped" emails, but this time I got that email and another email titled "Get ready: Kindle Touch is on the way" with tips and accessory recommendations. That's very Apple of them.Hidden Driveways wrote:Is Bezos your new ?beats me wrote:I ordered my Kindle Touch yesterday.

I few things before I even receive the Touch.
I’m not expecting it to replace the iPad or other tablets. I’m expecting it to replace paperback books. Period. There’s complaints about it not having landscape view. You can’t do that with a paperback book either. Then there’s complaints about web browsing and checking email. Can’t do that with a book either.
Also it doesn’t come with a wall wart charging adapter and I had to buy that separately. I think there’s 2 main reasons for that. They can stick you for another $10 (Apple is another $29) and it would add mass to whatever slick box they ship it in because Apple’s packaging is almost as magical as what’s inside.

LOL! Oh, my... I hope I'm not slipping to the other side. I gave my first generation ipod touch away but actually kept the box because I thought it was kind of a cool box (John Lennon).beats me wrote:Apple’s packaging is almost as magical as what’s inside.
Oh, no... It's happening isn't it
Re: the reviews are in, and the Kindle Fire SUCKS. lol
Too Late... Just viewing threads like this means your slipping.
Your only defense is a knee-jerk vitriol rant against Apple..
without that...might as well order a black turtleneck.
But it is inevitable

i'm just going to leave this right here: http://mashable.com/2011/12/01/kindle-fire-vs-ipad
along with this:
along with this:
and a note that this holiday season 499.00 buys 2 Kindles or 1 iPad and 599.00 buys 3 Kindles or 1 iPad. What will you ultimately decide Mom/Grandma/Random relative??In economics, a recession is a business cycle contraction, a general slowdown in economic activity.[1][2] During recessions, many macroeconomic indicators vary in a similar way. Production, as measured by gross domestic product (GDP), employment, investment spending, capacity utilization, household incomes, business profits, and inflation all fall, while bankruptcies and the unemployment rate rise.
Recessions generally occur when there is a widespread drop in spending, often following an adverse supply shock or the bursting of an economic bubble.

Of course initial sales will be strong. That's a no-brainer.
The press/reviews have been pretty savage, however. Can the momentum be maintained?
Doubtful. Someone will come along with a tablet at the same pricepoint, and it will eat into the Fire's numbers. Prolly Samsung.
And *can't believe I'm saying this* at least there's won't be an underpowered and clunky mess.
Of course, the iPad MINI is going to change all of this anyway.
Amazon should enjoy their 15min while they can.

Yeah, I’ve been quite with the news headlines on this which all have pretty much the same wording for sensationalism. “$200 tablet outsells $500 tablet” really couldn’t be considered news…and it isn’t news except for the way they choose to title it.
And I was actually hoping the Fire would bring some competition, but no.
