Best OSX app for fixing, tagging, renaming MP3s?

Post by Tarekith » Wed Dec 14, 2011 7:53 pm

Hey all, my wife's iTunes library is a mess, and before I go and manually correct 60GB of MP3s, I thought I'd see if anyone has any recommendations for any of the automated apps that do this. Mainly looking for something that can automatically add the ID3 data and album artwork directly to the file, search for duplicates, and (hopefully) even rename the actual files themselves.

Looks like there's a lot out there that does this, but does anyone have any experience with any in particular?

I don't mind fixing a few, but if it saves me from having to fix all of them it'll be worth it. Thanks!.

Tune Up has always kind of scared me because it’s been one of those applications that gets installed when you install an unrelated app. Some kind of partnership I assume. All I know is I somehow had it installed suddenly without knowing what it was exactly or how it got there. The reason I found out is because it opened itself every time I opened iTunes.

I don’t know if it works or not, but if I wanted mystery third party programs installed when I install another program I’d buy a PC. :x

If you can bootcamp, TagScanner is amazing... http://www.xdlab.ru/en/

As with any app of this nature it's real easy to royally fuck your collection up if you're not careful.
Make a back up the entire collection before hand just in case.

http://dougscripts.com/itunes/

I couldn't find anything like MP3Tag on OSX, but scripts on here have been enough for me. Being able to do everything on iTunes is also a plus.
