Re: PROMETHEUS
I think it's not impossible that Ridley considers the Queen as canon if you take into account that he and Cameron were working together for a while on what was originally going to be a fifth sequel but what evnetually turned into Prometheus.

And yes the Aliens vs. Predator movies sucked, but the Dark Horse comic book series had a great story. It's too bad they didn't go with that one.

omfg.
Great find. The first dude has nailed it..that combined with the previous blog about the Christian angle, really puts it all together. In fact, the Christian stuff is merely window-dressing to this much larger mythology.
And I'd completely missed the fact that the first ship you see is a prestine SAUCER....! Never put it together in the movie (and how could I?) that it was driven from another - perhaps more superior race. The concept art bears this out.

THIS MOTHERFUCKING 100X OVER.
Excellent graphic novel series. It's the biggest scifi crime ever that they just didn't make that story.

Hell, the original black & white Aliens comics from Dark Horse were way better than any movies that followed Aliens.

After seeing the movie I don’t know WTF people are complaining about. It’s an awesome scifi movie and the little plot holes are hardly worth saying it’s shit. Also a great prequel to another sequel that can be completely detached from the Alien movies. Genius. The only issue I had is characters instantly being standoffish with each other for no good reason, but that happens a lot in movies.
People need to get their head out of Alien’s ass.

heh.
I actually don't mind 'Resurrection' and fucking absolutely LOVE Alien3.
Love it.
While there's all this talk about how the studio kept fucking with Fincher, there's no doubt that it's an incredibly bleak film. I love that. Not a fucking good or warm moment in the whole thing.
I mean, right off the bat Hicks and Newt are dead.
Not long after...omfg...there's an autopsy on 10yr old Newt's body.
Director's cut is better, but the whole atmosphere of the piece is great.

Looks like I will be going to see it again tonight. Should be interesting with all these theories! Plus 3D was sold out the first time so looking forward to checking out the effects. Even though I hate 3d as a gimmick.

I think you're going to dig it. For the first time it feels as though the 3D is fully integrated and not overpowering. In fact, I can't imaging this movie without it now....pulsoc wrote:Even though I hate 3d as a gimmick.

Really? I missed that. I'm starting to doubt I've seen the special cut .beatmunga wrote:Except the Queen is a later Cameron invention. Ridley's recent special cut of Alien shows the remains of Brett & Dallas being cocooned into eggs. No queen needed.ikeaboy wrote:Also in that mural you have the giant squid face hugger above the zenomorph which I reckon is the Queen. So Black stuff -> worm sperm -> squidy facehugger-> Queen-> eggs-> facehuggers->zenomorph.
TO LSZ yeah I thought the directors cut of Alien 3 was a good film.
