OK, I'm going to back out of this debate right now due to your usage of a word I don't know and I'm too lazy to look it up.shuutobi wrote: Climate change is real, anthropogenic climate change is highly doubtful. Cue climategate.

Did you see this trailer shown in IMAX theaters? Shorter, but a bunch of new shit - including the Space Jocket chair that's unbuckling it's occupant.

Re: PROMETHEUS
Yeah this looks great, definitely one to see in the theatre when it comes out. Judging from the previews this is going to be a huge hit.
Blade Runner and Alien are two of my favorite movie. I'm one of the few people I know who likes the first Alien best.
Ridley Scott is good at other types of movies, but I think science fiction is where he excels.

Yeah funny you say that because a friend and I were saying the exact same thing today. Watching the trailers it's like the guy has finally come home to the genre that he never should have strayed too far from.... He's had some great flicks, but also some tremendous stinkers. None of them were as powerful as Alien and Blade Runner. The guy has a real vision for those films and surrounded himself with enormous creative talent. It's hard to believe that he's only done 2 scifi films his entire career, yet they were 2 masterworks.
After the complete SHIT that was Avatar, I'm looking forward to some serious scifi. There's a real Lovecraftian overtone already with this new one, and I hope that turns out to be the case in spades.
I too love the first Alien above the others.

Re: PROMETHEUS
Personally I think the key to his mad skills in science fiction is the believability of the characters.
The first Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back had it a little too, but Scott does it best.
The absolute checkfuckingmate in this is when Deckard (Harrison Ford) gets royallt pounded to shit by a replicant, takes a shot of whiskey back at his apartment and a trail of blood flows into the shot glass as he's drinking it!
The crew aboard the ship in Alien are lazy, not super lazy, just tired of their bosses shit lazy.
The street scenes in Blade Runner are crowded and messy. I could go on; it's one thing I hope he hasn't forgotten about in Prometheus.
