My god I never knew they did a video for that. One of the most beautiful songs ever recorded, IMHO. Not sure if it's fair to compare it to anything else.

not very impressed with their new stuff though i'll give it some more listens

for me their best stuff comes from their first 4 or 5 albums - spleen and ideal, aion, realm of a dying sun, serpent's egg.

Brendan Perry kind of an anarchist, Lisa Gerrard something of a christian, alas. I prefer Perry's point of view. 9V was banned from here because of a Perry's song and this video posting: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRTJ3TGj5zU Alas, it was 11 september, the song is against war (i guess), but american guys here claimed it was against USA so the "you've been banned" message.

Actually, in another song ("Babylon") Perry sings:

The eagle flies up towards the sun
High above the fields of Babylon
In one claw he holds an olive branch for peace
In the other twelve arrows for his enemies, for his enemies

Sons and daughters of America
You lay down your lives
For the warlords of America
Not for your sake, not for mine

The message is clear, at least for europeans...

Brendan Perry = Matt Monro + Mogadon

Always loved Dead Can Dance especially Toward the Within. There always was a progression from one album to the next but this new stuff sounds like they got stuck in a rut.
