yeah really sad. i was more of a fan of his work with BJORK, particularly HOMOGENIC.

I was exposed to his sound a bit after the Freak era. The album for that is lovely and I've listened many times. Plus I love his offering on the Wipeout Pure soundtrack. He knew how to get in there and make some infectious noise :P

I have only a fraction of experience with his older material, but still, when the boy band LFO came out at one point, I knew from the first second they ought to fuck off because there is only one true LFO.

I think he taught me that the perceived limitations of hardware in their default tonality is only the beginning. And there are so many crunchy or chimey or densely reverberated or just funky ways you can bring New Life to old machines.
