The psychological part of addiction is obviously the hardest part. It has nothing to do with physical cravings, and everything to do with your mind wanting to get the rush of the original fun part of the drug. Booze is the best example of this, most people when they start drinking have fun bonding experiences with their mates, talk to some girl way out of their league, take her to bed, get cheered up by a good conversation with some random people they play darts with in the local bar after a shit day at work etc. The mind over time will conveniently forget the hangovers, the apologies to friends and wasted time, moving violations, the std's, the puking, pissing exploding shits etc. and you fondly look back on the good part of drinking/drugs etc. ......and this time I'll do it right, no more than 3 drinks a day, I'll only smoke when I'm drinking etc. etc.

Not many people get addicted to a drug they hate.

Ask yourself - if your doctor said you had 6 months to live would you take up smoking again?

If your answer is truly "no" then you are free of the habit. Took me about 18 months to reach that point.

Over here, to smoke a fag does not mean shooting a homosexual.

First of all, nobody can be "cured" of addiction. It can only be managed.

I disgree with that totally. The whole point of the Easyway is that you are, with any luck, completely cured.
So you can occasionally drink at social events where it would be awkward if you didn't? because that's what completely cured means.
The majority of people never develop habits around drinking that prevent them from enjoying it in moderation on New Years, on vacation etc.
That's completely cured.

Though anybody that tries moderation after developing negative drinking habits is a fool playing with fire.

Surely if they were completely cured they would never drink?
Enjoying an occasional drink with friends and getting mildly drunk (or even, sometimes, completely rat arsed) together is both pleasurable and an important social ritual that helps with human bonding; not an inexorable slide into degradation as you seem to be saying.

Why eat a cheese cake, or go to the cinema, or listen to music,...

I do many things that have no good reason apart from the fact that they give me pleasure or provide a focus for social bonding.

I've got 2 dozen bottles of decent wine in the kitchen - I might open one to go with dinner tonight or I might not - depends how I feel, I love a nice glass of Rioja to savour with a meal. I also enjoy three or four pints of real ale while watching a jazz band and eating a roast beef dinner with a few dear old friends at the local pub on a Sunday afternoon.

But I know better than to drink every day or even every week.

Not everything to do with recreational drug use is bad and some of it is actually good. to deny this is dishonest.
