Looking for Inspiration - Electronic music with "Real Drums"

Post by dtrue17 » Thu Mar 07, 2013 11:42 pm

Hello,

I recently obtained a Roland TD-3SW kit to finally be able to play drums indoors. Previously, I would write the drum tracks within Ableton, but am going to move away from that. Some of the electronic music that have 'real' sounding drums, whether from an electronic kit or an acoustic kit, have been fascinating.

What I need is inspiration. Who are some artists that employ this technique? What are some specific songs that use drummers instead of drum machines?

Links, names, titles....anything helps.

Thank you,
Ableton Live 8.2.8

I'd say anything up til about 1980 or so...

You might think a little outside the electro-box..

I'm not 100% sure this qualifies, but have you heard Droid - NYC DnB. Its a bit old now, but the druming is incredible. I think his name is Amir ziv. Its drum and bass with a real drummer and an electric bass. If you haven't heard it its worth checking out.

iVardensphere. I believe they have even gone to the extent of recording Tokai drums.
