this is what happens when you get daws into the hands of a million 14 yr olds who thought they could make some dubstep or mad hiphop beatz...the epitome of de-evolution in music

some of it is ok, but just passable, for 10 mins max

Sure all genres have plenty of crap music, but IMO if you like hiphop/rap there are probably at least SOME good tracks for you in the genre that is Trap. It's just the latest whipping boy on forums sush as these, populated mainly by folks who are bored at work and probably wish they had jobs producing music :P
...myself included

I've been digging Flosstradamus, check out
http://www.soundcloud.com/flosstradamus ... und-anthem

Dirty South Joe has some good mixes out as well
http://soundcloud.com/dirtysouthjoe

and of course Diplo & friends are putting out Trap too...

If you're already into Dirty South, Too Short, etc., Trap is really IMO just an extension. For the haters, Trap is just an extension of what you were probably bitching about 10-15 years ago

I think its worse than that. Some of the people making it actually know that the result is garbage but are just too caught up in the hype to care. Its become all about making the loudest noise and getting the most attention possible. Anyone who openly disagrees is obviously just a hater.

Oh yeah, there is garbage all over the place.

Deadmau5 really explains my same exact thoughts in why "He hates" and I hate dubstep/Trap and all these other new genres. bad producers with their non - Audio Egineering, Design, and other aspects of quality in music.

Skip to the 4:12 if you want to hear his take on it, it's very true.
He complains about extreme compression techniques. Wow. How very 1999 of him.

Sounds really like his is dissing Skrillex-style dubstep - and didn't he just collab with Skrill?

Sounds a bit like early/mid 90ties rave to me. Josh Wink, Prodigy, etc.

Yeah there were particular tracks that reminded me of Baltimore Club - I think it's coming from that tradition with New Orleans Bounce with those super repetitive high energy chant and calls.

is this actually a genre?

My first thought was T is next to R on the keyboard and they just hit both together when typing rap

Trap as a genre is similar to how Dubstep progressed, its been around for awhile but was just recently popularized.

If this is just Hip Hop music without the rapping then I am surprised it didn’t get big a long time ago and if on some level it’s acknowledging rap lyrics have gotten retarded then it’s also about 10 years late. Even Snoop is doing Reggae now. Nough said.
