PACIFIC NORTHWEST PEEPS ANYONE GOING TO SEE PRINCE
PACIFIC NORTHWEST PEEPS ANYONE GOING TO SEE PRINCE
PRINCE is playing like 5 shows in SEATTLE at the showbox, 2 shows at the ROSELAND here in portland and cali. & vegas. the showbox and the roseland are small venues! those shows are going to be sick!
Re: PACIFIC NORTHWEST PEEPS ANYONE GOING TO SEE PRINCE
tickets are wicked expensive, but maybe worth it to see PRINCE at such a small venue.
Re: PACIFIC NORTHWEST PEEPS ANYONE GOING TO SEE PRINCE
He seems like a bit of a twat and I've been told he's the hippie jam band of R&B who refuses to play his hits.
I will pass.
I will pass.
Re: PACIFIC NORTHWEST PEEPS ANYONE GOING TO SEE PRINCE
dang, that's kind of booty. he is definitely next level pretentious. i didn't know he doesn't play the hitz though.
i had a similar experience with SUN KIL MOON/MARK KOZOLEK recently. we went to go see him and he was amazing, but he didn't play any hits....then when he talked to the audience, he was a total prick. he just bashed portland all night, and talked about, how he used to get laid a lot more but now his shows are 80% dudes, so not as much these days. apparently, it is his "shtick".....but it was awkward a little, especially after paying $20 bones to see him play.

for $300.00 i'd at least want to see him play a bunch of stuff from p-rain, i wanna be your lover and maybe diamonds and pearls for an encore.

Hehe, I saw him play the Roseland several years ago, similar story. It was kind of a bullshit setup; they had him in the "Peter's Room" section with the bar. But he spent most of the show complaining about the situation rather than putting on a show for the people who had payed to see him play. (Of course I've seen Morrissey do the same shit.) A local act opened up for Kozelek, a solo guy who played under the name "Reclinerland" and in my opinion, totally blew Kozelek away in terms of showmanship. Kind of a bummer considering RHP are a top-ten, perhaps even top-five act for me. His Name Is Alive phoned in both shows I saw them do too... another all-time fave that pretty much disappointed.eddiex wrote:MARK KOZOLEK recently. we went to go see him and he was amazing, but he didn't play any hits....then when he talked to the audience, he was a total prick. he just bashed portland all night, and talked about, how he used to get laid a lot more but now his shows are 80% dudes, so not as much these days. apparently, it is his "shtick".....but it was awkward a little, especially after paying $20 bones to see him play.
Man. I've never seen Prince live. Almost considering it...
EDIT: Oh! Thinking of Morrissey, I heard Johnny Marr's coming to the Aladdin soon...
Re: PACIFIC NORTHWEST PEEPS ANYONE GOING TO SEE PRINCE
i have a couple of RHP albums, but i really love his SUN KIL MOON stuff. he said (that night) that he would rather kill himself than play those songs.
i haven't heard johnny marr's new album....but i hear good things about it, might have to spotify. i wonder if he still lives in town here?
i just checked on tickets for PRINCE at the roseland. i think they only have balcony seats for like 300$ for the later show.
the showbox shows are still available at 250$...but in seattle. might have to make a weekend of it.

The most absolutely overrated fucking musician ever...
EVER.
I'm always amazed when guys prattle on about his influence, but the simple fact remains that if he'd never existed every single genre or whatever would have been invented just fine without him.
Kraftwerk? Influential. Bob Dylan? Influential. Beatles? Influential?
Prince? He needs a fucking shave.
EVER.

Prince would argue that he’s the most influential artist in Prince music which is the only music that matters.
