Socialism will save us all (technology edition)

Post by Jack McOck » Mon May 13, 2013 5:46 pm

http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/05/ ... 6Y20130513

From the article:

During his first year in office, French president François Hollande has done a remarkable job turning a round France's dwindling economy... [A] newly proposed tax, targeting technology giants such as Apple and Google—who have had the nerve to create products that people genuinely like—should help fuel a new generation of locally produced goods that, despite their inferior quality, should at least have the merit of being more français.

I for one salute François Hollande in this noble effort, and wish him and his kin the very best of luck.

France has been a great supporter of the arts for quite a while now. God forbid they ask for things or expect people to conduct themselves according to their cultural standards while in their country.

That's it, I'm burning my Arturia and Ohm force plugins. And balls if I'm getting on one of those easyjet planes again, either.

Nonsense! I'm happy that Hollande will be giving Apple's money to Ohm Force. Maybe that way they can finally finish their Studio.

It seems though that there are not as many high tech products from France as one would expect from such a highly developed nation.
I blame it on their perceived cultural superiority, exactly like it is portrayed in the Reuters article.
I'm confused. Do I stand here accused of being conservative or republican?

Do nuclear power stations count? Think we're due to buy a load off them.

There's actually plenty of high tech companies in France, but most people only think of
consumer products like phones, TVs and computers.

They have a pretty successful car industry though.
