Went and saw World War Z last night...

...by comparison, Ishtar and any Adam Sandler flicks would be far superior. What a steaming turd. You'd get a better ROI attending a FallOut Boy concert. :x

A geeky Asian teen the next row down was snoring half way. That's how riveting it was. The CG looked like it was handled by summer interns. Brad Pitt needs to stick to casino ripoff movies. :o

Yes, it was marginally epic, in a paradoxical way. :|

I highly recommend you hop in your time machine and go see Pacific Rim instead. IMO it’s one of the best recent movies in its genre. Plenty of action peppered with just the right amount of character development and backstory to make you care but not bore you and make you roll your eyes.

been wondering about this... from the previews it kinda looks like another OTT big action thing, evne with cheesy lines like "cancelling the apocalypse" but surely Del-Toro would make it something else. Probably see it this weekend

as for WWZ - do not even want to waste my bandwidth on it

Well it did get a lot of good reviews and most were going in with an “Oh yay, Transformers vs. Godzilla” mentality and were pleasantly surprised.

For me even overall well done scifi or super hero movies about half way through I find myself going “Can we please get to the boss battle now so I can get on with my day?” and they run at least a half hour too long. Usually this is because way too much time is spent trying to make you give a damn about the growing bond between the hero and the easily interchangeable reluctant hot chick. Pacific Rim doesn’t waste a lot of time on that crap, just enough time.

The movie kept my interest the whole time and didn’t feel like it was dragging on. There were even things I wish they spent more time on, not because they left massive plot holes, but because they would be an interesting aspect to explore deeper.

Saw Pacific Rimjob last night. More of the same big-budget noisy overproduced shlock that didn't deviate from the standard tired formulaic sci-fi fodder for the masses. Nothing new. We've seen it all. Gigantaur monsters from the portal below (stupid) with mutant blue plasma filled hippo bodies attached to hybrid bullshark-minotaur heads. <Yawn> pass me a Red Bull so I don't nod off. And Charlie Hunnam - lose the sealegs for chrisakes and carry your ass on back to Charming - I'm getting tired of waiting for the next set of overdue SOA installments.

Down with monsters. This is much better --> Image

Hold up, chief. Nobody said it brings anything new to the table. It's simply more tolerable and doesn't try to be something other than what it is. But if you are saying you might as well watch a Transformers movie instead then I think you have a ridiculously high expectation of what an action scifi movie should be and are doomed to a life of disappointment.

But yeah, I found it a bit odd 2 Sons of Anarchy actors are in it.
