I always wondered who henk sneevliet was, but never looked it up. Then yesterday, I was reading some essays by trotsky, and you wont believe, yes, henk sneevliet. trotsky addressed a letter to him.

You see, in some case he is still relevant.

An interesting character. Played a key role in the Indonesian struggle for independence, founder of a non-racial railway workers' union (hence the station, I suppose), and killed by the Nazis in 1942. Flirted with Trotskyism for a bit but eventually drifted a way (good man!) and joined the Independent Labour Party.

The metrostation was named after the "henk sneevlietweg". "weg" is dutch for road. Because the road was there before the metrostation.

Jaques Goudstikker is much more interesting.

Does your empathy not stretch to people of this particular political ideology, or any political ideology on the left?
I'm just interested to know more about what kind of person you are, so that I don't need to stereotype you any longer...;-)
