I liked Blameless and Whiteout from the early nineties. Blameless were from Sheffield (UK) and had a single called Breathe which charted and managed just one album. Whiteout were from Glasgow (Scotland) and did two albums. Their lead guitarist, Eric Lindsey was phenomenally talented but now teaches Spanish in a Glaswegian high school.
There's almost no information online about these bands and I actually quite like that, shows how obscure they were.

some 70's jazz fusion fo dat ass:
mel martin's listen - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUvtCSQut6c
this whole album skirts the line of good vs. cheesy smooth jazz, but has enough grit (at least for me) to enjoy it. very heavy on the steal drums
atmospheres featuring clive stevens - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=85H7wEz ... _c&index=9
really really good jazz fusion from '74 with billy cobham, john abercrombie and more
joe farrell is by no means unknown, but he has a few albums from the early 70's that are smokin'. as with most CTI label stuff from this era, there is usually one or two good ones and then a few that are just too cheesy for me to get into. "canned funk", "penny arcade" and "moon gems" are all pretty great IMHO - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DmX6Lzy23q8
