Now you'll have to admit that the whole 'monotheism' thing was your politicians doing what they do best, exploiting your simplicity (they were smarter back then) for control. They knew that having one symbol instead of many would make for a lot more efficient distraction/scapegoating campaigns, not unlike the playful dance between a cat and a laser pointer.
So, sorry guys, it's gods, as in plural, and you give us too much credit. We didn't give you your consciousness, we just played with it.
it all makes sense... now.

Funny how people don't think the "left" has any religious nuts.

i was always assumed the religious "right" was coming from the "we're right and you're wrong" mentality they emanate... so the religious left would be more whimsical and less strict... as in "maybe" things work this way or that way... instead of acting so pretentious and rigid.

i don't think it's the same left and right as used in politics... although i do believe the similarities form a kind symbiotic relationship of strong of opinion.

then again... maybe i'm way off.

I was just sayin'

When you look at obama's ex pastor, he was pretty extreme. I think it's safe to say that right or left, religious nuts are plentiful. BTW, as someone who RARELY posts in the lounge, I just wanted to make clear that I have nothing against religion personally, just saying I don't think it's limited to the right.

what i meant to say (in 27 words or less)

i think being exrtremely religious is what makes one part of the religious right.

when an ideal is taken too far... you get wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Wow that's terrific news! I had planned on celebrating his death for quite some time now. Woohoo!

As far as nuts are concerned, and not even the most extreme ones, I think it's more about certain personalities that may be a little obsessive and also have a strong need to be a part of something.
Even if the majority is like that, sports and religion are much more polarizing and prone to exposure than say, cooking or belt buckle collecting.

I don't make that assumption. But those Christian broadcasts seem to me to be Tea Party in orientation.

This is because the left isn't compatible with religion.

While the religious right-winger believes good and bad is determined by God and is absolute (ie. thou shallst not discuss religion and politics in the lounge), the left-winger believes that morality is dependent on feel-bad, and is thus subjective. (ie. "people bitching about the amount of calories in a Starbucks coffee-beverage makes me feel bad, there oughta be a law")

Absolute and feed-bad-subjective are incompatible, hence the left and religion must also be so.

QED.

Note: 84.3% of lounge members will feel bad reading this.
