Sure, it was a bipolar world back during the Cold War, but nowadays, the world is a lot more multifaceted than the two-sided world back then.

It was and never will be entirely black and white. Look at any large conflict and you will see that it isn't a matter of good guys VS.
The Cold War is responsible for the USA being completely in the hands of the military, Iran, Russia, the condition of Eastern Europe, South America etc. So IMO defeating the Soviet Union did as much or more harm than good. What would have happened if the USSR and USA had not been involved in an arms conflict? We cannot know?
