Got a new car

Post by beats me » Tue Mar 25, 2014 4:40 pm

And the sticker shock is making me feel like I want to puke. Basically my normal monthly savings deposit routine is now going entirely to my car payment and insurance. I haven’t had a car payment in over a decade. :x

Is this what most Americans feel like all the time? :x

But hey, I can control my iPod entirely from the touchscreen stereo and my steering wheel. :)

Thanks Jizzle! :)

But now I also gained some sympathy for assholes who take up 2 spots when they park. Wiping overnight dirty cat paw prints off my hood was quite upsetting. :x

I have a white van with a big fucking dent and scrape down the side. I highly recommend this vehicle, changing lanes and pulling onto roads is a breeze as everybody gets the hell out of my way. Also, children are trained to avoid vehicles like mine.

In other words : Congratuations on your purchase, I hope your drunk neighbours are more careful drivers than my fucking fuckety fuckers.

This is my first new (ish 2013 model) car. All my past cars were at least 4 years old and pre-dented to some extent. So little nicks and scratches never really bothered me much. Even got a $2,500 check from Fedex once from one of their drivers backing into my truck which I quickly invested in music gear instead of fixing the body damage. :) But I know on this car I’ll probably blow a gasket (in my head, not the car) when I get the first noticeable dent or scratch. :x

because he's earned the right to upgrade.

congrats beats.

park at the far end of the parking lots... the walk is healthy for you and most "fucking fuckety fuckers" who dent your car are all trying to squeeze into the 22 spots closest to the door.

Then why didn't you stick to your former behavior?!

Well, because I’m older now and with age comes more intelligent and future proofing decisions. I cringe now at how I used to drive recklessly (under the influence) and did little to no maintenance on my cars. I currently have a 32 mile work commute. So newer and reliable are in order. I could have gone a little older but that would have only saved a few thousand bucks and I wouldn’t have got the fancy newer features. Also at my age I think I can treat myself to some car bonus features as something like home ownership is probably not going to be in my future (read: state of the world economy and middle class).

Thanks. :)

I already generally park far out in parking lots for exercise reasons and more spots available...and that was with a 1998 Camry. Now I’ll continue to do it for other reasons.

Yes, cars have been a main source for mix monitoring for a while. No neighbors to piss off at high volume. The sound is quite nice in the new car, even to the point of hearing song elements in pro produced songs I never picked up on before because of my previous car’s shit stereo.

Congrats.
I always drive beat up ten plus year old vans. I destroy them within 3 or so years.
One of these days I will buy a car newer than 2000, that gets better than 20mpg. :x

I drive a black crown vic police interceptor with spotlights and no exterior markings. Terrible mileage but I got it for $3K, 60k miles. Everyone slows down immediately and gets out of my way, I have basically witnessed no agressive driving (apart from my own) . Highly recommended.

Cheers on your new car, BTW!
