My favourite AT albums are Ambient Works II and the Richard D James album. Druqks had a lot of good stuff as far as I remember (haven't heard it in many years).

Was just telling my brother, who's a big RDJ fan, that I found the new track from Syro very dated. It's also so easy and not very original to make such electronica nowadays - anyone can produce it, it doesn't stand out, nothing unique about it anymore, just more fiddling with pleasant harmonies morphing in and about. Glitchy cute little drumparts, extremely annoying vocals at the end.

It reminded me of recently listening to the new Godflesh stuff...Justin Broadrick simply regurgitating the awesome material he produced in the late 80s and early 90s.

Basically - what is the point? Move on or stop. Unless you're Motorhead.

I listened to that new earth shattering advance release track. Same tired shit. I think James is just looking to line his pocket. He really needs to retire the whole "psychotic mugshot" thing as well which is equally tired and borish.

I heard the entire album this morning and really dug it. Those looking for something revolutionary will surely be disappointed though, it has more of a 90's electronic album aesthetic but very coherent and enjoyable to listen to imo.

He's been doing many interviews lately and fwiw he says he's not doing anything innovative here and it's intended to close the chapter on his old stuff. He intimates he'll be releasing more frequently now and the fresh stuff is on the way.

Bought the album this weekend and I've listened to it a couple of times now. I'm really enjoying it, maybe even more than the other AT albums I have. I find it very listenable, just sort of chill if you want to add music to your space, but with plenty of interesting musical tidbits if you're in the mood to actively listen and savor the composition and construction of the tracks.

I'm a big Richard D. James fan, so I am pretty biased, but I think its a great record, really solid album start to finish.

Syro is a badly spelt anagram of "Sorry"
