I'm still on Komplete 6!
I haven't really seen anything in the intervening 5 versions that was massively different. All the main synths are pretty unchanged and apart from a bunch of nice included sample content there's nothing I really needed. I bought the update to Reaktor, because I've been using that thing since it was called Generator ... but even that was a weird slender upgrade. Blocks are nice, but really just a framework for 'instruments' with mod source limitations, and very high resource usage. After such a long wait that seemed a little bit thin.

Good to know in a way, I think NI have enough of my money for now. I just started on learning the basics of Max so I'm not ready to dive into Reaktor just yet. Besides my main uses are going to end up being mostly for Max MSP not Max for Live, or a plug in format like Reaktor, i.e. using it as a tool between DAWs outside of DAWs.

I'm feeling like at this point GAS isn't an issue, it's time to learn to properly use the tools I have. I know, hearsay in this thread!

Alright, alright - if you must know, I recently bought Spitfire's
London Contemporary Orchestra Strings library. I like how such purchases make me feel like a serious musician. A feeling that lasts from the moment I press the Paypal button until the download finishes. From there on, I just feel like a personal finance disaster.

I think Akai has dropped the ball for some time now. If you’re using Live there’s probably nothing interesting in their entire catalogue for you, especially since Push 2 is no longer made by them.

• Ableton and Novation make much cooler MIDI controllers.
• Korg, Elektron and Roland make much better groove boxes and samplers.
• Pretty much anyone makes much better synths in general.
• Hell, the NI Maschine is a better modern MPC than the MPC.
• The Tom Cat and Rhythm Wolf are almost comically bad.

I find myself craving a hardware synth more and more. I've realised that whenever I have a moment to spare, I'm not really making music, I'm just playing around with sounds, so I figured I might as well do that without starting a computer and launching Live. But even though synths are not as out of reach as they once were, it's still a major investment. I'm drawn to something like Arturia Microbrute, as that kind of sound is very close to my heart, but I'm sure there are other synths? that would give me more mileage. OP-1 and Circuit look like fun units, but I really prefer that meaty feeling of a classic synth, with knobs and faders that only have one function each, and no presets either. And this brings me back to the Microbrute, as it doesn't have too many parameters (don't want to get completely lost, either).

I ramble. Tl;dr: I want to touch knobs. And faders.
