Took advantage of a 50% off Lounge Lizard sale this past weekend. Haven’t used Live in years (sorry). Has the Live version kept up with the current version of the plugin?

No, hopefully Live 10 gets updates to the AAS instruments.

Hopefully. TBH Lounge Lizard is one of the few cracked plugins I’ve used but that was back in the 00’s, and I never really grabbed for the version in Live. But I really liked what I heard on the recent version demo and you know what you are getting, don’t have to sift through electric piano presets in another plugin that does many other things and doesn’t quite nail it. Also the NI emulations never really inspired me. Lounge Lizard FTW.

Agreed, although If I was in Logic like you I would probably use the emulation there. I liked that one too. Lounge Lizard is funkier though.

I need to just pull the plug on Strum acoustic 2, 1 is so so but 2 sounds really good, and I'm all for abusing it as a starting point with FX added on top.

As cool as those are, the nice thing about being software based is nonmusical guests don't wander into your plugins folder and then expect some kind of skill based demo that could possibly justify such extravagant purchases to them.

As cool as those are, the nice thing about being software based is nonmusical guests don't wander into your plugins folder and then expect some kind of skill based demo that could possibly justify such extravagant purchases to them.

They also don't come with presets

So it’s only about a month old. The only real web chatter on it seems to be on the announcement from people bitching about overly produced and stylized plugin commercials and all plugins being geared towards EDM now. From what I heard you can do a lot more than EDM (and think outside the EDM box and presets FFS) and a few said their other release, Rev, is top notch. I checked out the Rev videos but how much can you really do with reversed sounds…for $200?

Btw, if we are not only talking plug-ins but also hardware, I'm dreaming right now sooo much about the new Electribe paired with the Kaosspad Pro 3+.

I played with both of them in the music store and they are so hands-on and intuitive, yet powerful and good sounding.
I imagine now a set up of these two chained would sate my gear lust for quite a while

So after reviewing the limit information on http://outputsounds.com/products/signal/#in-action and http://www.widebluesound.com, which are similar, I made a decision.

I upgraded to Omnisphere 2. I figure with a little effort (and I’m not big into effort) I could get the same results as both of the above plus a lot more. And the upgrade was the price of just one of those.

But after spending a little time with Omnisphere 2 I don’t get it. Doesn’t seem like a huge leap from 1. But it inspired me to check out some tutorials. I learned some things but I think most of what I learned was already available in 1. If nothing else I’ll gain a better understanding of Omnisphere and the new shit will spring up here and there. I can be a big preset whore but I’ve always found Omnisphere’s presets a little daunting and thus far haven’t seen how the new praised browser is much different from the old one.
