Looks sick, timing is perfect for me!
I'm also in the market for an interface and this looks beautiful but I have no clue about this company's track record.
What are your thoughts on driver stability, latency, dependability etc..?
Cost?

As far as I know this is their first audio interface, but I've had the Qunexus since the day it came out and it's been amazing.

looks like it is 499$

it is tempting, but I would love some review history, maybe I'll be a guinea pig if the manufacturer warranty is decent..
I was looking into Motu... maybe I'll wait and see
Re: NAMM 16 - Rumors and Hopeful Products?
I like that price, I definitely plan on picking one up asap once I can get one in the EU.

Man...
I am so tempted...
I wish someone would chime in with some facts or empirical experience.

looks like a great live performance mixer and audio card. IMO anyway, for mixing in general there are better options that an unlabeled bank of 8 faders, but for live work where you want to feed stems to the house and a submix to headphones that's perfect. Surround sound installations as well it would be perfect for.Tarekith wrote:KMI K-Mix:

Remembering that you get a lot of final mixes and stems in your business, I 100% get why this would be perfect for you for sure.

Yes, KMI is hip and all but I'd be very wary of a manufacturer with no track record in audio. I'm surprised at the lack of critical thought here.Machinesworking wrote:looks like a great live performance mixer and audio card. Sure KMI are so very now with their rastafarian touch interfaces, but audio is a whole other thing! I mean do any of you remember that Ableton, the digital audio specialists, hired a special specialist to code their EQ?
This DSP shit is hard.
So who have KMI got designing their EQ and compressors?
Beyond that ... We have the tricky world of the DAC and signal paths, what wordlength is the summing, is the design OTS or in house?. What is the provenance of the converters and how might they compare to something from RME, for example. I mean ... this is DAC and processing here, not just a touch interface.
Lets put it another way. How keen and excited would you be to hear of a new Behringer touch desk? I mean compare your excitement level to that of the KMI. Well, Behringer mixers are designed by the well regarded guys at MIDAS, so the signal processing and DAC should be excellent. Now explain exactly why a KMI desk is so great.
In short, good for KMI. But I'd be more wary about putting a mix through this than an oft-maligned mackie rack.
Son, I am disappoint
Re: NAMM 16 - Rumors and Hopeful Products?
I only need an interface for my monitors, guitar, and vocals so I think I'll stick with a track record on this one and keep an eye on used Motu/Rme.
If this thing ends up being the shiz I'm sure I'll hear about it, plenty of time to sit back and see but I can't imagine how (unless they tapped into amazingness) this could rival the competition..
But...I'm always open to change and new products, but I don't wanna be the guinea pig.

Roland retweeted this, but I can't tell if it's a 3rd part fascia kit or a new JDXA official "un-shiny edition"
A lot better than that shiny black nonsense anyway.

Honestly it's been years since I've heard a bad hardware converter. It's just not that expensive anymore to convert digital to line out. Don't get me wrong, in the studio here I have the RME Fireface, mostly becasue it eliminates that from any possibility of being an issue. The arguably much inferior ones on the NI Rig Kontrol here would be just fine for live use though.Angstrom wrote: Yes, KMI is hip and all but I'd be very wary of a manufacturer with no track record in audio. Plus, Keith McMillon introduced this at NAMM last year.
