Need small bass solution for light activation

Post by beats me » Tue Aug 22, 2017 1:30 pm

I have some lights that low frequencies trigger changes or movement. The problem is the speakers need to be pretty loud before the lights get triggered. I'd like to get the same results even at low volume. There are mics on the lights that will trigger changes when tapped with a finger but that isn't convenient for obvious reasons. For feeding sound to the lights I can use the monitor outs on the mixer but I'm looking for a small speaker solution I can secure directly over the mics. Any ideas?

Do the lights have DMX? If so, control them that way. No bass required.

I don't want to go to that level of setup unless there is a simple box that can just receive audio and emulate audio triggering to the lights.

Cool. A little on the expensive side though. I haven't gigged in forever and it's something I would just want a few times a year.

I researched some DMX controllers and it looks like the controllers with audio in are only used for triggering patterns in the controller scenes, not for triggering the patterns built into the individual lights.
