You don't see a crossed-over price a this page in the shop? You need to be logged in.sowhoso wrote:my account shows that I own Live 9 standard. however, the price I see for Live 10 standard is $229 USD as an upgrade

Re: Live 10 upgrade path
USD 239 for upgrade from suite to suite. Got it. And pardon if this has been mentioned before, but could anyone confirm the upgrade price if I buy or register a Push 2 between now and the 10 release? Do I save $40 off that quoted price and pay $199?
Re: Live 10 upgrade path
But you didn't answer my question? Is there a cross-over price at that page or not?sowhoso wrote:that's the link for Live 9 pricing and I am always logged in

from Abelton ppl:
"At the moment, we expect a Live 9 Standard to Live 10 Standard upgrade to cost $229."

Re: Live 10 upgrade path
I was actually attempting to be constructive. If you actually feel an update is "steep" then you're not forced to upgrade. It's also possible you'd be more happy with another DAW, which I felt you implied, and there's nothing wrong with that choice.sowhoso wrote:go make some music
I know we all have different uses of Live and value it differently and different income we can direct at gear. I certainly don't have a lot and I still feel 199€ is not too much to ask. That's just me.
We can all have different views on this and your view as expressed is of course valid. I only ask you to ask yourself what would be the alternative to these prices? How can Ableton make everyone happy with their pricing structure and remain a vital company that moves their product, our tool if we choose it, forward?

Re: Live 10 upgrade path
The new Live 10 is great and has some solid features and speed that make it one of the best music making and music production tools out there again. but at £183 I simply can't find a logical reason to upgrade from Live 9.
In fact because I'm a suit owner and MAX is now fully integrated into Live 10 I can't upgrade unless I buy the suit as frankly; despite Wavetable look fab I simply don't need it or the new effects for that matter.
When I consider everything I have ever learnt and focused on in music making and production I quickly justify my decision not to upgrade Live at this price, simply for me it's far better at this point to focus with the tools I already have.
If your new to Live or music production in general and have £500 earmarked for a new DAW then knock yourself out, you won't be disappointed.

That's always a viable and often wise decision. After all, the point is to make music, not to have new features you don't need or otherwise cannot enjoy.Gregory Wells-King wrote: When I consider everything I have ever learnt and focused on in music making and production I quickly justify my decision not to upgrade Live at this price, simply for me it's far better at this point to focus with the tools I already have.
