I will not abandon Live 9 because it is just as useful now as it was before v.10

but it is total b.s. for someone to rudely tell me to go elsewhere when I complain about the upgrade price for what amounts to a fractional improvement

and it is even more b.s. for mods to tell me I'm the one being rude when I respond go make some music

What I find strange is the idea of going to make music is seen as an insult??? It's not like you said, "go sit in front of the computer with writers block!" :x :x :x

Realistically chalk it up to a lot of missed subtlety.

Oh, and every forum for a DAW I use has a few people who are rabid Defenders of the Faith™ of said DAW, and get catty when you point out flaws or shortcomings.
The Digital Performer forum I visit is much worse than here that way, with people bringing your status as a pro into question when you complain about a feature that isn't working properly or poorly implemented. :x

I think the irritation comes from the knee-jerk reactions and armchair speculation.

Greed seems to be the de facto origin behind anything someone finds objectionable about software pricing. As if there's no other possible reason. I don't like the price, therefore they're evil. End of.

Then you have the tech angle, which is much more complex. Like what happened in one of these threads where the user complained about CPU levels and then found out it was because of some security software they had installed. The user might have laid down a dissertation of screeds against the company beforehand, but after they figure out the problem was on their end all they offer is a "My bad, guys."

if that.

but yeah... after a 10+ page flame war, a miner might find a single post assuming responsibility buried in the charcoal. :x

as an appetizer to all that, you get the 26 probing questions spread out over several pages that it takes to find out the OS, peripherals, and gear.

Greed?! more B.S.

evil Ableton?! That's B.S. too. I never said that and I respect them even if I don't agree

stop making blanket statements

I watched the video trailers. On the release date I was on the fence until I went through comparisons and realized Live 10 Standard is no more than a fractional upgrade. definitely not worth the price.

I'm not a trust fund baby, I work for my money so I'm not just gonna hand it over, whatever amount

peace

I’m making a blanket statement because I’m referring to every post like that I’ve read over the past 14 years of being on this forum, not just yours.

Suite to Suite upgrade is not worth it. At $299 that's Bitwig on sale. I'll wait. I've got plenty of learning to do in 9. Eventually the market will tell if Ableton's pricing is working.

Then logic dictates you cannot be surprised if the person in the thread you’re commenting in who last made a disparaging remark will take your blanket statement personally. You’re effectively lumping all comments about the upgrade path into your blanket statement.

I at least compared the sycophants here favorably against other forums. :x
