Laptop spec requirements

I’m in the market to buy a new MacBook that I will use for live whilst I’m traveling. I’ve been looking at the MacBook Air as a lightweight solution. Has anybody got any experience running live on a MacBook Air? I currently have a 2011 MacBook Pro with plenty RAM and an SSD that works great but it’s quite heavy to be carrying around. I tend to use a lot of audio/simplers and a few vsts such as the soundtoys plugins, sylenth and Komplete.

I think the consensus is (and not from me, i'm no Mac user at all) the Air is good as a browser and iPad with a keyboard (IE: not all that powerful) and for doing stuff with software like Live you really want to be looking at the Pro models.

The new 13inch MB pro's are tiny compared to old ones! I don't have one but I'm sure the 8th gen i5 config will be more than enough for travelling needs.

I have no experience with the airs but most people would recommend sticking to the pro's.
