Buying a new laptop

Post by Sebbz » Sun Mar 24, 2019 1:22 pm

Hey!

Its time for me to purchase a long lasting laptop with good performance and suitable for Ableton and some basic editing in video and photo programs. Right now i am looking at:
DELL XPS 15 9570
https://www.amazon.com/Dell-i7-8750H-Ge ... B07CTHLX8B

Huawei Huawei Matebook x Pro
https://www.amazon.com/Huawei-MateBook- ... B07CTHN94Z

Link to comparison
https://www.windowscentral.com/xps-15-2 ... book-x-pro

(Also thats my budget) It looks like Dell is the winner but does any1 here have a huawei that performs perfectly fine or an other laptop that is better than these? (less pricy?). Huge fan of the underground companies that doesnt get the attention it deserves! Need help to not be ripped off. :D

I don’t bother with U processors. I don’t know how the hardware is on each of these with regard to the motherboard and cooling design (especially with a gtx graphics card, yikes), but you should be able to compare benchmark tests for the cpus on each computer to get an idea of expected performance.

About a year ago I bought an MSI GS63VR 1060 Gaming laptop.

I use it for live performing (playing softsynths in a band)

Works great.

Gaming laptops in general will give you good performance and good overhead for playing heavy softsynths.

For recording audio only, you probably could get a much cheaper laptop.
