Ableton and Macbook Pro

Post by fmoura » Wed Apr 03, 2019 10:26 pm

When will Ableton fix the fan speed issue on Macbook Pros? It's unfortunately the only daw that makes my computer go insanely hot (thanks to it's eccentric GPU use - which still baffles me since other daws are much more cluttered than Ableton's.)

Try this - it massively reduced the load on the system on my mid 2014 spec MBP. Live's default settings seem to hit the gpu very hard. I still get some fan noise at low audio buffer settings, but that's not surprising as Intel's power gadget shows they push the cpu into turbo mode no matter what the DAW is.

And if you've a recent Mac and not already done so, update to Mojave 10.14.4, it has some fixes for USB audio issues on the 2018/19 Macs.
