Is there something obvious I'm missing? Recording into a clip in session view seems like the most straightforward and hassle-free way to do looping. What does Looper offer that is better?

Ability to easily overwrite a recorded loop on the fly for a starter. Clips once recorded need to be deleted manually. Looper is designed to be usable with something like a single foot switch.

I didn't realize until now that Ableton doesn't allow overdubbing audio clips. I thought it did, which made me wonder why use Looper. But since only MIDI clips can be overdubbed, Looper is definitely necessary for audio.
