New Computer Neded?

Hello everyone

I currently use a Mac mini server 2012 as my primary computer, but as of late It's been running real hot, and I've had my computer monitor turn off and on during use. My studio set up has grown considerably and I'm starting to think it just can't handle what's being thrown at it.

Does it sound like there's something going on that's correctable or is it just time for a new machine? and if so, would one of the new quad core iMacs do the trick.

The current iMacs and MBPs are rather more powerful than a 2012 mini, so if brute power is the issue then they may well do a better job.

It might be worth investigating cleaning out the mini’s fan and air vents first though. It sounds like overheating might be the issue and if the cooling system is full of dust, hair and who knows what else clearing it out may help.
