Live 10 and Live 11 at the same time?

Post by Digital Larry » Fri Apr 01, 2022 12:59 am

Probably been asked a million times, but is there any known issue with having Live 10 and Live 11 on the PC at the same time? Or, if I select an upgrade to 11 from 10, does 10 go away?

I'm wanting to collaborate with a friend who is not currently using Live but is willing to take the plunge. I have Live 10 Suite.

It looks like all he can buy now is Live 11, so clearly we would probably not be able to share stuff from 11 back to 10. I don't use a ton of advanced features but I do use a handful of 3rd party VSTs.

I use these VSTs:
  • XLN Addictive Drums
    XLN Addictive Keys
    Wavesequencer Hyperion
    Rapture Session (from Cakewalk)
    Focusrite Red EQ and Compressor

That's gonna be your problem. But he could send you rendered audio files/stems.

But you're also asking about having both versions on your machine, and this is not a problem at all, you can have dozens of Live versions on a single machine. Upgrading to L11 won't remove your L10 application, nor your L10 license.

Is there any point keep the LIVE 10 Suite installed once I am doing everything in 11.1?
Is the application itself the only thing to delete if I want to conserve HD space or are there other legacy files that can be thrown out?
