Are there any "normal" instrument sounds?

Post by James Lomas » Mon Sep 19, 2022 10:55 am

Hello. I've just signed up for the free Live trial. Mostly it's great but I'm struggling to find instrument sounds. In the "instruments" section there are hundreds of of amazing sounds but they're mostly sci-fi soundscape noises, or ambient bells and whistles. I can't find anything that sounds like a clean voilin, clarinet or trumpet or even a normal bass guitar or electric guitar sound. Do these sort of sounds become available when I sign up for the paid version, or would I need to purchase them separately? Or am I using the wrong DAW? Many thanks if anyone has any insight or can let me know what I'm doing wrong.

There's a lot of them in various Packs.
Depending on the Live edition you buy, you get more or less packs.
You can see the details here

There's quite a few free instrument libraries out there, Spitfire Audio is a good starting point, along with Pianobook. Ample Sound have a pretty good P Bass that's free. It's also worth doing some research on Kontakt as there is a free version that enables you to play certain libraries.
