Sound design: A good tool/effect to change up the sounds?

Post by Christian_R » Wed Nov 30, 2022 7:18 pm

Hi!

Maybe a vague question, but are there any tools/effects that can change the sound on for example a synth in Ableton?

I know there are many effects of course, I just want some inspiration and tips from other users. Because sometimes it's hard to know what to look for.

Say you have a pretty standard synth, pluck etc. but want it to sound a little more unique. Any tips is much appreciated. Also if you have some cool YouTube tutorials on sound design :)

I already use Serum, Massive and Spire. And a combination of modifying the sound inside those plugins alongside with the Ableton stock effects will make many possibilities I'm sure.

Sorry, but this question is way too broad imo.
How to change up a sound? Turn a knob; play harder/softer; use effect X etc...

I understand that well, lol

Maybe some kind of filter is a better word. Because sometimes my synth contains different synths playing the same melody, and I would like to know if there are any cool ways to tweak the sound all together.

As I wrote, I look for inspiration from others if you have any tips :)
