Anything being done about the Automap jerky automation bug?

Post by Electromorphic » Mon Aug 01, 2011 4:47 pm

Hi there Ableton team,

I had confirmed Via email that the bug I was experiencing with automap was infact an Ableton issue.

"Hi Matthew,

thanks for getting back!

I've tested this issue with a Novation Nocturn and can indeed reproduce it. It seems that VST plug-ins are affected only and that the problem has been introduced between Live 8.1.3 and Live 8.1.4.

I will file a bug for our development.

Best Regards and thank for reporting this issue,

Marian Kalus
Ableton Technical Support"

Is anything being done about this?

What is the issue exactly? I think I may have a similar issue using zero SL mk ii in 8.2.2 - hard to describe, but it seems to happen when I map to some parameters and not others, I turn a knob all the way down to zero and it will jump all the way back up to 127 - is this the issue you're experiencing?

This is your key sentence: "I will file a bug for our development."

So it is in their bug tracking system. Depending on development people's availibility, they will fix it.
However, don't expect a regular report from them.
You'll most likely just find a note in the changelog of a future release.

Hi evrerybody!
i`ve a similar problem with my Bitstream3x and some Maxforlive devices!
when i map certain dials it`s only possible to move my knobs very slowly, when i turn them faster the dial gets crazy, means it jumps around very chaotic and after some seconds it comes to rest, but always at 0 or 127!

With the apc its very strange too:
When the device is selected it`s no problem to control it with the device control knobs, but when i manually map the controls to it i get the same strange behaviour??
Do you get a response from ableton yet?
or did you find a workaround?
all the best
andreas

I'm in touch with Alex Lucas @ novation, they can't reproduce the problem but are looking into it.
The last response I had from Ableton was in october.
Marian Kalus wrote:at the moment it's not completely clear what's causing this issue. We were able to reproduce it but it seems to be a combination of changes on our side and on Novations side. Automap uses a very special way to communicate with the host software. Probably both Novation and Ableton have to change something to make this working again. This makes it hard to tell if a fix will be available, soon.

I'd urge anyone suffering with this to contact both Ableton and Novation support.
support@ableton.com
support@focusrite.com

The more of us that contact them the more likely someone will take notice.
