Observed Behavior:
My 64 VST plugins are not visible after startup. The plugins do not appear, not even after a deeper rescan.
Workaround:
1) Close Ableton Live in case it is running.
2) Remove the preferences.cfg file in the folder: /users/[username]/Library/Preferences/Ableton/8.4b1
3) Launch Ableton Live
If you start the 64 bit version after this you will only see 64 bit plugins. However, the 32 bit plugins will be missing. Should you wish 32 bit plugins, please repeat the steps and launch the 32 bit version.
Feedback:
If the problem of missing plugins persist, please reply to this thread.
If you experience any problems scanning plugins under windows please report your errors in this thread.
Status:

Re: Known Issue 8.4b1: VST Scanning OS X
Yeah, I've had this scanning issue under Windows 7 64bit. (forgot to mention my OS in my post in another thread)
Only seems to be with iZotope Ozone 5 x64 for me. It seems to have found all of my other 64bit VST's no problem

Re: Known Issue 8.4b1: VST Scanning OS X
Removing the preference file works for me. However, the Waves v9 plugs are still not loading. The AUs seems to show up, just not the VSTs.
