Installing beta

Hi, i've just tried to install the 8.4 beta on a different windows partition I have and I keep getting an error saying that the side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Anyone any idea what this means? I've tried uninstalling/installing several times.

the reason is a missing c++ runtime or something like that. i think you need the 64bit runtime

this is the 2nd time i've installed it (2 different partitions) and it was fine first time round. phaps i'd already got it installed on the other partition? i would have thought it would have been part of the installer....

I installed the redist manually and it's still the same.

same issues here. I did just did a fresh install of win 7 on a laptop to clean out some old issues. I can get 8.3.3 to work fine but I still can't get the beta to open yet.

dumb question but do you have to download 8.4b1 first, because I noticed that the file on 8.4b2 was much smaller

We have confirmed the problem in this thread

Since the redistributables were not part of the installation package. If you manually download and install from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download ... px?id=2092
And it still does not work, you might have admin right problems on the machine. Do you have admin rights on the computer?.

@headrick - you do not need to install b1 prior to b2.

Hi, that fixes it. I had download the 2010 version of the redist and not the 2008.
