Re: 64 bit64 bit support - in current version or onlu in Live9 ?
Isn't freezing and working on the audio track enough or does it block in your creativity?
The cool thing about techno still, comparing it to most jazz is the improvisation coupled with raw energy.

Re: 64 bit64 bit support - in current version or onlu in Live9 ?
it appears that a 64-bit Live will be part of a version 8 free update... like all other betas... when the testing is over ableton will release a "production" version of 64-bit Live... and it will be a free update...Whysolazy? wrote:Recently I started to use heavy Kontakt libraries and 4GB RAM isn't enough , I'm actually in the direction of buy 32GB RAM PC .
Is there any news about 64bit support beside the beta? Will Live8 customers receive 64 bit support or it will be only on Live9 ?
I'm just considering buying Cubase 6 cause it support 64 bit =/
if you are a "heavy" kontakt user (i.e. studio drummer, abbey road drums, scrabee basses, etc)... 4GB is not enough... i think a 32GB machine is overkill!!!

i cant tell you what to get... but i "only" run omnisphere, trillian, kontakt, east/west which are all large sample based libraries on i7 machine with 9 GB without any problems using the ableton live 64-bit beta...
i will admit... that when live 9 comes out i will be purchasing a new machine with 16GB of ram... 32 GB of ram seem like a lot... i.e. driving a lamborghini in NYC... there is no place to open it up!!!
good luck!!!

On studio one I once happened to have a 13gb on ram project.
With 16 gb, and roughly 1gb taken by windows and 500 / 600 mb by other things, it started to approach the limits.
32 gb is not overkill, especially considering the low ram prices these days!

I've seen people complaining their 48GB were bordering on too little. I don't use big, heavy things, but a few 8DIO instruments is all it takes before my 8GB laptop begs for mercy. You can imagine what EWQL users feel, with 700GB+ installation sizes for the full collection.doom_Oo7 wrote:On studio one I once happened to have a 13gb on ram project.
