Crash while opening GlissEQ VST (x64) gui in 8.4b8 (64bit)

Emailed crash report, but getting some crazy crashes that aren't easy to duplicate when opening Voxengo GlissEQ VST gui (plugin is already loaded & running)

Seems to happen almost at random, but invariably I'll go to look at the EQ or tweak it at some point and 95% of the time it's fine, but the other 5% is a chance of Live getting closed.

GlissEQ 3.6 64bit Windows
Live 8.4b8

Hi Cotdagoo,

Did you experience this crash using other hosts?
Please note if the crash relates to clicking certain areas of the gui, or if there is any pattern in the crash scenario. I know its not easy to determine why random crashes happen but any information would help greatly.

I don't use other hosts.

It related to clicking on the button in Live to open a VST's gui.. I don't see the gui, I see error messages and Live crashes.

I can open/close the VST gui 10 times in a row without problems and have probably 7 total instances of it in my project (GlissEQ can pass spectrum info to other instances allowing you to see multiple eqs within a single gui window)..

It's just the 1 random time I go to check something or tweak and can't even open the gui without error messages/boxes popping up.

Hi Cotagoo,

We have a special mail adress for beta crashes that land directly in my inbox sending to beta@ableton.com.
For release versions etc please continue to use the crashes@ableton.com.

I had the plugin in test for 1-2 hours opening, closing the gui and following your descriptions an could not reproduce the crash.
Please let me know if you find additional pointers how to reproduce the crash.

I haven't had it crash the last few sessions, but I also haven't had as much time as the previous sessions since I reported the error to be confident it was a one time error.

I'll update the thread with any further issues

Got it again 5mins ago.

Had no issues on a 2h session earlier today, but rendered my mix and closed Live - went to the car to listen. All fine.


Get back, load up Live - load my project and the first thing I do is attempt to open the GUI of GlissEQ on my master channel to start mixing & making some changes...

Then boom a bunch of stacked error messages then Live closes and I'm looking at my desktop.

Contacted Voxengo support as suggested by Torsten and they've given me an upcoming 3.6.1 release that's not been released yet.

The changelog doesn't suggest any fixes of this kind for windows, but in my first session have experienced no crashes yet.

Given the history of how random this behaviour is, I'll likely need a few sessions before I'm confident the crashes are gone, but will continue to update this thread with any problems as they arise.
