Product Idea: Ableton Slide

Post by Rick Burnett » Fri Apr 12, 2013 6:01 pm

So one of the only complains from my friends that love the APC40 is that they miss the sliders. I was thinking a really neat add on product could sit above or to the side of the Push done in the same design, but have a bank of 8 sliders and 8 knobs. If you made them right, you could even make them separate so you could put them wherever you wanted. Also, if you did A USB hub built in, then you could make it very easy. I'm sure there are a million ways to do this, but it would be a cool modular approach for the people that want those things and don't want to bring along the APC40.

I've definitely checked out Livid, I had the Livid Ohm at one point. For me personally I am happy with what Push has, as I didn't use the sliders or knobs on my MPD32 that I owned for quite a bit. That said, I could see people liking the setup of 8 knobs laid out like in Live and how some people can't let the sliders go. :)

But on the Livid note, there stuff is built great. Really enjoyed using the Ohm quality wise. Programming wise at the time I wasn't happy with the method for programming it.

i'am about to create a custom device for that.
you might know doepfers "drehbank"
i will create a device which haves 10 columns with 6 knobs each.

with this, i can simply assign 6 send channels for each track and bind them to a common effect.

Hm, I actually have an F1, I hadn't thought about using it with the live set-up... could be pretty sweet.
