it looks worse in fotots. take out ur cellfone or camera and take a low iso, or low exposure, or low quality foto... then it will show worse that it really is

not necessarily, although it's true that there are a lot of technical issues to do with digital colour management that might make it look worse (or better) than in real life...

Got mine today. It has about 10 buttons with two increasingly pinkish variations, but neither is enough to bother me. White/pink is close enough that I get the meaning, so all is well. The picture the thread-starter included has more pink than mine, and I could live with even that.

For me it's less a problem with instruments in Notes mode than it is for things like Drum Rack Notes Mode. It's very hard with the calibration off to tell correct velocity levels or your pattern lenghts with the colors so inconsistant.

This whole issues (indeed I could be happy with the worst ones I saw on this forum, saw a pinky / whatever unit from a (un)lucky mate having enough money at time...

It made me go to wikipedia (eng) just to learn about the RGB complex task ...

I know understand both the users complaints AND Ableton/Akai position : regarding refresh rates of the matrix, no white 4th LED and hopefully (go read for the reason it was not a good choice), the blue LED being somewhat different and hard to duplicate >>> shake everything knowing "white" is a mix of the three LEDS with one being very hard to duplicate even on an industrial "Akai" scale...

Interesting indeed.

Regards.

returned push a few months ago cuz of too many pink LEDs

started to regret decision

guitar center has a labor day sale today 15% off

bite the bullet and head to store to pick up another push

pray that this push wont have more pink LEDs than the last one i returned

fire it up

LEDs are almost all PERFECT

a wave of relief washes over me and i now take back everything bad i ever said about push

They have a calibration tool out now. It's not perfect but better than before and it doesn't effect custom colors so you can still use Seafoam, etc.

Currently the color is adjustable (after a firmware upgrade and running their max based calibration tool) but not the brightness. Turning the pads from pink towards green will leave you with white but if the change is drastic it will also dim the pad somewhat.

Also the selection pads at the top are not currently adjustable.

They mentioned this is the first version and are looking for feedback.

*edit* Link removed

I believe the actual tool is a stand alone max app.

WOW. I assume you got a link to this from support w/ Ableton directly?

I just tried this on my Push this evening, and the difference is night and day. The tool is very simple to use... once you've updated your firmware, you launch a Max app, select a pad, and calibrate it with the Master encoder. Right now it would seem that there's only support for calibrating white with red vs green (one dimension), but that alone has made an incredible difference.

Wish I took a photo of my Push so I could do a before/after, but alas. Try it for yourself!

Here's my after shot:

It actually looks a lot more even in person. A little darker on some pads, but far, far better than the pink hues I had before. Very happy now, time to play....
