Virtual MIDI Keyboard in Live with Push

Post by molefonken » Thu Aug 29, 2013 11:47 am

Hello. Does someone know if I can have a virtual midi keyboard viewable on my screen when playing on Push? So I can see how push actually lays the midi notes on a keyboard.....?

If you've got max for live, it's pretty easy to build as well.

[notein] -> [kslider]
  • wire the left outlet from [notein] to the left inlet on [kslider]
  • wire the right outlet from [notein] to the right inlet on [kslider]
  • right-click kslider, edit properties, scroll to the bottom, and set the range that you'd like to display.
  • that's it.

Yes, I have Max, but haven't got into it yet.

I almost got it working, what you said. But the third step is difficult. I can't find "edit proerties" when I right click on kslider

...And when I play on my push, it only shows one note at a time, even if I press three at the same time..

It doesn't map properly when Push is in Chromatic mode. It only work properly(displaying properly push pads) when Push is in "In Key" mode with scale layout set to sequential. Have you found a way to fix this?
