Automatic Massive control parameter mapping to push

Post by sarmad » Sat Sep 21, 2013 7:48 am

For those who are figuring out how to automatically map Massive (and a few other vstis) parameters to Push. Try this
1. Load your vsti to a new track
2. Click on 'unfold device parameters' on the device window
3. Click on configure (it should turn green)
4. Goto massive and load any preset from the browser. Voila! All the parameters are mapped automatically
5. Turn of the configure button.

You can keep loading new presets and the controls will update automatically

Hello,

I'm a neaw push user, so, where is the "unfold device parameters"?

Thank you.

This will work for some other VSTs too. Typically when you click the Configure button to learn parameters Live will grab any parameter that changes values while configure is active. Loading a preset dumps a load at a time.

Some VSTs need you to st "host automation" first before they can be learned and some have more than the 128 available in Live so they wont learn.

hmmm, nice to have...

but here in live 9.1.2 and beta 9.1.3.7b on osx 10.9.2 it is like that:

as a vst: no parameters are mapped
as a au: only the first macro parameter .

hmm anybody ?

frabo,

I just started using Push and google brought me to this article. When you have configure active, click the controls you want to map across to the knobs.

Check out this sweet feature using the options.txt from Madeleine at SonicBloom

Hmmm. Looks like a great technique, unfortunately the parameters are not appearing in the Midi map configure section upon choosing a preset in Massive. Perhaps this doesn't work in the newest version of Live anymore?

Do you have any good recommended mappings for Massive on Push?

In the new Live there is just one more step for this:

Load Massive onto a track
Unfold Device Parameters
Click Configure so everything turns green
Whatever control you click in Massive will be mapped, you probably just want to click on each of the 8 macro dials in Massive.
Click Configure again
Now as you load new Massive presets the dials will stay assigned and the labels will change to match. Nice!

just to add to this -

You can drag around and rearrange your individual parameter configurations to your liking.
Also, you can right-click on the top bar of the Live Device and choose "save as default configuration" ...

Pretty fuckng cool
