It is indeed crazy. These mappings are without doubt the best way possible to get the most out of the native instruments/fx bundled with Live so i'm guessing number 2 is the answer. Fingers crossed they dont break it either way.

edit: I said that I thought the community mapping was causing problems in 9.1.2 but I have determined that the community mapping is not the problem.

I'm posting the same post in this thread because they are interrelated.

Since Ubermap takes over (destroys the community mappings) (they both hack the devices.py file in _Generic).

Has anybody made "Ubermap" mappings that match the Community Mapping effort?

I can re-create them but I'd have to go through some effort of re-installing the community mapping to determine the layouts. Is there some sort of documentation for the layouts of the community mappings?

Airyck, I think that's a terrific endeavor, considering that there may be others like me who find the community mappings and their instructions here to be far more approachable than delving into Ubermap.

Will the community devices.py listed in the first entry still work for ableton 9.1.2? re:dream mentions that he/she's finding some issues? Could someone confirm that it works or identify the changes? Also, I thought that my renamed customDevices would remain in the _generic folder but I guess that was wishful thinking with the way ableton updates it's full package with every release...maybe the instructions could be expanded to account for this scenario...

The community mapping still works in 9.1.2 with no issues for me. I also use 9.1.3b2 beta mainly, and it works here also.

Some of Ableton's updates to Live overwrite the devices.pyc file. Simply reinstall the devices.py as in the first post.

Yes. The community mappings are included in Ubermap

Nice work really appreciate the effort but work the mapping still in Live 9.1.3 or 9.1.4 ?

And will a own mapping worth the effort? I mean I woould need to dig into Phyton (lil coding expierence here)
but don't want to write for every Live Update a new skript.

Furthrmore Ableton should provide a tool to customize Push skripts.

Still works, and probably will keep on working since this is an alteration in file that doesn't seem to get updated a lot or influenced by other files being updated.
