Push & External Gear

Post by Dom Murphy » Fri Dec 06, 2013 9:31 pm

I can't seem to get Live / Push playing nice with my external Elektron gear. It seems if I have my Input Track on in my Midi prefs I just get a ton of stuck notes and feedback city, this is both playing via Push or playing via the external gear. If I turn off Input then it works but it's a one way conversation and I can't send input back into Live.

Any ideas? Doing my head in - I just want to play!! :)

You probably have these set already but if not this may help:

In midi Prefs. set your Elektron in and out.
Use Live's "External Instrument" and select your Elektron and channel.
"Local off" on Elektron and Channel Strip Monitor set to "Auto".

Hey there

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I have all that set up-just can't stop the feedback. Urgh. Basically I can only use Push one way (send to devices)... a shame as it would be great to have 2 way dialog. I'll keep digging.

It sounds like you have a midi loop going on there and that indicates that your midi is not set up correctly. If I had to guess that would be it. Doublecheck your ins and outs and your local on and offs… another thought would be cables.
